KASALEHLIE!
Welcome
to the Vicariate of Pohnpei-Kosrae!
We hope that the information presented here will be of interest to you
and helpful, whether you are a local resident or a visitor to our vicariate
or someone doing research on the Church in this area.
It rains a lot here on the main island – some estimate it to be
over 400" per year! This blessing from the Creator makes the island
flourish in greenery, waterfalls and rivers – so much rain makes
a good metaphor for the over abundance of God’s grace available
to the men and women, boys and girls of faith that comprise the ten
parishes, two missions, and other groups within the larger faith community
of Pohnpei-Kosrae.
Our Church is young and vigorous, growing steadily but with bumps along
the way. The challenges of building the City of God in this part of
the diocese are many. Our human resources are limited, and there are
never as many laborers in the vineyard as one would desire, but most
of those we have are very self-sacrificing and happy in their ministries.
We live in hope, and trust the Lord’s power to bring about the
increase. We invite you join us! Pray for us! Even better, pray with
us!
Sincerely yours in our Lord,
Dave Andrus, S.J.
